THIERRY LANCELOT

Thierry is no stranger to the world of writing. Passionate about art history, he wrote several essays and exhibition catalogs on artists and architects of the Art Nouveau period. He is therefore used to historical research which helps anker the story lines of this newly created universe in real historic settings. The story of The Orb would span centuries as we learn more about the origins of The Templar, The Holder or The Black Shaman.

Comic collector for more than 25 years, the time seemed right for this author to venture into the world of comics creators and a destined encounter with artist Christopher Orpiano led to both starting off the journey of bringing all these characters to life. The Orb Universe and its characters have since been translated into French and published in the famous French comics anthology Special Strange revived by publisher Original Watts.

CHRIS ORPIANO

Christopher was born in Manila (The Philippines) and started to work as a comic artist since 1999 until the Comics Industry in the Philippines faded from glory. He started his career by submitting a few samples of his work to ATLAS PUBLISHING, one of the oldest and leading industry’s comics company. At the time, the chief artist saw his potential and gave him a short story script, working as a free-lancer. During a few years his work was closely monitored until his art was polished enough to stand on his own story-telling.

By the time he was working more extensively in the industry, the comic scene in the Philippines was starting its downfall and went through a life threatening crisis never to recover from. Chris was forced to find work as an illustrator for The Philippine Army. After three years as a civilian employee working for the Government, Christ resigned and decided to focus on his role as a spiritual leader in his local community while continuing to draw daily. When looking at some creative thinking on the web, he was drawn to a project still in its conceptual phase and was interested in drawing some character designs for a project called The Orb. And now you will be the judge of his talent.

RODEL NOORA

Rodel (nicknamed Nonong by his friends) started working as an illustrator in 1992 in one of the major Filipino Comics firm, Atlas Publishing Inc. In 2004 when the Filipino Comics industry collapsed, he found a new opportunity as a storyboard artist for movies and a layout artist at the Philippines Animation Studios.

In 2006 Rodel had the opportunity to pencil and ink comic book issues such as The Innocent, Sam & Twitch and Spawn for Image Comics. In 2011, while still continuing his layout artist duties, he was called to pencil the Final Destination comics for Zenescope Entertainment and co-pencilled the series Abattoir for Radical Publishing.

As the pandemic stroke the country and the world, the economics came to a standstill. Rodel took this as an opportunity to refocus himself on his comic book artistry. Since the start of 2021, he has been working as a freelance artist and colourist and managed to reposition himself as a valuable contributor to the independent comics industry.

Upon reference of Christopher Orpiano, he joined The Orb to lend his colouring skills to the book with success. He currently lives in Camarines Sur, The Philippines.
